Information

Van Meter Feedyard, L.L.C. is owned and operated by Eric, Matt, and
Charlie Van Meter.  The Feedyard has the capacity to feed 12,000
head of cattle.

The facilities include indoor feeding in five semi-confinement buildings
with 2,800 feet of fence line bunks, ninety-two hundred feet of outside
fence line bunks with concrete, plus other outside lots.  Receiving lots
and finishing lots with loafing sheds.  There are two indoor working
facilities.  Electronic scales for individual weights.

A bunker, pits and upright silos provide feed storage for high moisture
storage, plus drying bins for dry corn storage.

Two feed trucks with electronic scales are used in feeding the cattle. 
Other on site equipment include a tub grinder, trucks and loading equip-
ment, computers for keeping records and formulating rations.

Feed ration ingredients consist of high moisture shelled corn, dry shelled
corn, distiller grain, hay, protein supplement, and other byproducts when
offered. 

The arrival procedure at Van Meter Feedyard, L.L.C. follows these steps. 
The cattle are weighed to check shrink.  Processing is done as soon as
the cattle are unloaded and are rested.  Cattle are treated according to the
advice of our consulting nutritionist and consulting veterinarian.

We are easily accessible, located in west central Iowa 15 miles north of
Interstate 80 Adair exit; 60 miles west of Des Moines; 100 miles northeast
of Omaha.

Why Van Meter Feedyard, L.L.C.?  We are able to use cost efficient feed-
stuffs due to an abundant supply.  There is an excellent veterinary clinic
nearby.  Personal care is provided for the cattle while in our feedlots.  We
offer experienced buying and selling.  We are Located close to Interstate 80.
We have access to six packing plants.  We feed calves, yearlings, heifers
or steers as well as conducting research trials involving steers and bulls.
